Brent falls more than 3%, closing the session near $100

Brent crude for November delivery ended the session on the London futures market down 3.40%. The price settled at $100.34 a barrel.

The decline represents a significant move in a single session and brings the price back close to the $100 mark. The reported figure relates to the contract for November delivery traded on that market.

The price of Brent is monitored by companies, investors and consumers because of oil’s impact on energy and transport costs. The closing price provides a reference point for the session, but does not, by itself, determine the direction of prices in the days ahead.
